There are significant deposits of construction stones on the territory of Ukraine. They are concentrated within the Ukrainian shield (metamorphic and igneous rocks), the Donetsk folded structure (limestones and sandstones), the southwestern part of the Dnieper-Donetsk depression, the Volyn-Podilsky plate (limestones and sandstones), the Carpathians and the Transcarpathian depression (gypsums, limestones and sandstones, adensites and other effusive rocks), the Black Sea depression and in the mountainous structures of the Crimea (gypsums, limestones and sandstones, diorites and basalts). The majority of mined stones are used for the production of crushed stone, which is needed as an aggregate for concrete and for road construction. Building stone deposits include granites, pegmatites, quartzites, migmatites, gneisses, limestones and sandstones, gypsum, adensites, diorites and basalts, etc. as of January 1, 2021, 946 deposits were taken into account, 428 of which are developed by industry. Building stone deposits include more than 40 types and include granites, migmatites, gneisses, limestones, sandstones, pegmatites, quartzites, gypsum, adensites, diorites, basalts, etc.

According to the data of DNVP "Geoinform of Ukraine", in 2020 the balance stocks of building stones increased by 0.38% compared to 2019 and as of 01.01.2021 amounted to 7,906.80 million cubic meters. m. Almost half of the aggregate balance reserves of building stones, namely 49.49%, are reserves of deposits developed by industry. Granite deposits account for more than half of all building stone reserves in Ukraine - 4,271.09 million cubic meters. m or 54.02%. Sandstone (700.81 million cubic meters or 8.86%), gneiss (527.99 million cubic meters or 6.68%), migmatite (380.03 million cubic meters or 4.81%), limestone (371.60 million cubic meters or 4.70%), quartzite (363.50 million cubic meters) also occupy a significant part of building stone reserves. or 4.60%), gabbro-anorthosite (210.32 million cubic meters or 2.66%) and andesite (132.79 million cubic meters or 1.68%).

In terms of administrative regions, most of the balance stocks of building stones are located in Zhytomyr (1,653.02 or 20.91%), Zaporizhia (970.20 or 12.27%) and Donetsk (755.92 or 9.56%) regions. There are also large deposits of various types of building stones in the Rivne, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, and Luhansk regions. deposits, 464 of which were developed. Significant intelligence work

According to the data of DNVP "Geoinform of Ukraine", in 2020, 7 commercial enterprises had permits for geological exploration of subsoil. Commercial structures carried out geological prospecting works for building stones at their own expense.

During 2019-2018, according to the data of the State Research Institute "Geoinform of Ukraine", no permits were issued for subsoil exploration, and geological prospecting works for buto-crushed raw materials were carried out by commercial structures. More detailed information is not publicly available.

According to the data of the Geoinform of Ukraine DNVP, the volume of construction stone extraction in 2020 amounted to 38,960.48 thousand cubic meters. m, which is 44.11% more than in 2019. This significant increase is due to an eight-fold increase in the volume of granodiorite production compared to 2019, a three-fold increase in gabbro-norite and a two-fold increase in labradorite production.

As in previous years, the majority of construction stone extraction in 2020 was granite - 75.19% or 29,294.71 thousand cubic meters. m. The volumes of granodiorite (12.81% or 4,990.17), limestone (3.05% or 1,186.64 thousand cubic meters), migmatite (2.17% or 845.26 thousand cubic meters), basalt (1.27% or 495.45 thousand cubic meters), sandstone were much smaller.
